Eckhart Tolle, something missing from his wonderful insight.

First, I want to say Eckhart Tolle is amazing and I have learned so much from his work. I’m no expert on what he is talking about but I had some ideas this morning and wanted to get them down.

The mind is a very special organ, a very special tool for humans. It has evolved over the millennia to large capacity for a reason. Nature does not allow evolution of this type without reason and purpose.

The mind can change the quality of our lives in so many ways. We can decide what we want and pursue a planned course of action with the mind. The mind has created great beauty and harmony in civilizations, not just war and strife.

I think the problem  occurs when the mind becomes untethered. It was designed by nature to solve problems and move the body and soul towards goals. When we  just let the mind spin into random wanderings, all disorder occurs.

This is why it is so pleasurable and fulfilling to decide a course of action, take action and reach a goal. THAT is what the mind is designed for.  It was not designed to concentrate on past errors or future worries, it was designed to take action.

If the mind is used appropriately, it is a joy to the soul.

In Eckhart’s noble efforts he seems to  belittle the value of the mind. In making his points, he may have slightly missed this point.
