Carnivore Diet: What It Does to Your Health. - by Richard Uzelac
The picture that you see above should aptly describe what you think is a Carnivore Diet: What do you eat, and what do you get out of it? This diet has been creating a lot of buzz among people who are looking into what diet they should be putting on for some time. For some who have just heard and have an obscure definition of what the Carnivore Diet is and how it is different from the Keto Diet or Mediterranean diet then this article should help you.
Are You Ready to Follow This Small Crowd?
I first became interested in the carnivore diet after reading. Dr Shawn Baker’s book The Carnivore Diet. The book is full of scientific evidence and anecdotes to support the theory that a carnivorous diet is best for overall health and well-being. In the introductory chapter, Dr Baker outlines the premise behind this book. He argues that the majority of illnesses in our society are caused by the modern diet that is high in processed foods and low in essential nutrients such as protein, healthy fats, and vitamins. He states that many people are deficient in one or more of these nutrients due to a poor diet and that this can lead to a large range of health problems, including obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. He explains that these problems can be avoided by eating a mainly meat-based diet that is rich in protein and essential fats throughout the books. Dr Baker provides detailed descriptions of the science behind the carnivore diet and shares his own personal experiences with it. He also explains why a meat-only diet could be beneficial for people who are concerned about the impact of animal agriculture and for people whose religious beliefs prevent them from eating certain foods. Nevertheless, there have been many remarkable positive feedbacks heard with these carnivorous diets.
What Is the Carnivore Diet and How It Is Different from Other Diets?
The Carnivore Diet is getting nutrition from animal-sourced foods and critically eliminating all plant diets to achieve the purpose of overall health: fat loss, mental relief and avoiding chronic illnesses. Dr Shawn Baker states he is not strict about what people eat, and it is his experience that many people he consults with lose weight when they go 100% carnivore for one to two months as a reset. Many people end up sticking with 80-90% meat, and the rest of their diet consists of other whole foods as well.
The difference between the Keto Diet and the Carnivore Diet is the amount of Carb intake. While Keto Diet allows a small number of carbohydrates, this Carnivore Diet completely shuts off Carbohydrate intake- completely zero.

The Benefits of The Carnivore Diet?
- Mental Health Symptoms are Improving with the Carnivore Diet.
- Sarcopenia ( The loss of muscle mass as people age) – Dr Shawn hopes to be able to test out this diet in order to determine if it can help with sarcopenia as there is some anecdotal evidence that suggests it might. Furthermore, he mentions Ted Naiman’s graph showing the diet of the elderly population and discusses how he believes the sarcopenia along with the loss of mass in other organs could be linked to diet.

Take away:
My goal is not to be dogmatic about a certain diet, so if you think that a plant-based diet is going to work for you, go for it. If you have noticed that you feel better with your diet, then that is great for you. But I do know some, for sure, have had a hard time keeping on their diet and felt like they had made a mistake, so they reverted back to the unrestricted diet because they couldn’t keep up. However, if you are suffering from a certain disease, you might have to think twice before it’s too late and try out any new diet, whether it is a carnivore diet, a vegan diet, or a Mediterranean diet. If you are diagnosed with a serious disease: such as Diabetes, Celiac Disease, Hemochromatosis, heart disease or any other dreadful disease, then this may be the best time for you to follow and choose a certain diet.
